BMW G 310 R

BMW G 310 R

Finally making its Indian debut after a long wait, BMW has officially unveiled the new G 310 R street-fighter at the 2016 Auto Expo. Revealed late last year, the bike jointed developed TVS-BMW will be arriving in India most likely later this year as the smallest offering from the German automaker and will be locally manufactured at the Indian partner's Hosur based facility.

Definitely the attention grabber for the next few days at the BMW pavilion, the G 310 R makes its German influence felt in terms of styling borrowing design cues from the BMW S 1000 RR and R 1200 RR with the resemblance strong on the headlamp and air shrouds. The switchgear is in-line with the bigger BMW bikes and it gets an all-digital instrument cluster on offer. In terms of powertrain, the G 310 R uses a 313cc single-cylinder DOHC engine tuned for 34bhp at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm, while paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The cylinder head twisted around by 180-degrees on the engine and the cylinder is also canted backwards. This not only helps in a better air and fuel mixture but also makes for a lower centre of gravity and helps in better high speed stability. A lot of technologies from the bigger BMWs has also filtered down on the G 310 R. Also adding to the stree-fighter's attributes is the dual-channel ABS that is offered as standard.

Other mechanical details include USD forks up front and a monoshock setup at the rear while braking performance comes from 300mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes
